Yarn Design

I went to my photo meeting tonight at the Art Center in town.  The back hall has been spiffed up a little and this display of yarn on string is pretty new since I was there last.
There are instructions as to how to attach the thread~~probably unnecessary, but people seem to be very challenged these days~~but look how many yarns there are and how pretty the colors are.
I don't know if it's supposed to mean something, but it looks like a piece of artwork.  Too bad it's not in the main part of the art venue so all visitors can see it.

Dancer on Brick Wall

I made an image of this dancer quite a while ago, but this time the words "never stop" were on one of the bricks.
Never stop dancing.

I Heart Manny

I was walking around downtown looking for some images for the next photo group competition when I came across this graffiti in one of the alleyways.
I hope "Manny" sees it.

Golf Ball Graffiti

A friend of mine lives fairly close to one of the golf clubs in town.  One of the routes to get to her place is to drive by the club house of the golf course.  On my way home tonight, I saw this artwork on the side of the building and decided to make an image of it.

It was a really busy day for me.  I left the house at 9 am and didn't return until 8 pm.
Cleaned an airbnb for several hours this morning and then helped another friend relocate their
travel trailer, but first we had to dig it out of the mud when it got stuck.
I'm thinking I might be getting too old to be doing this kind of physical effort, but the truth is, even though it was hard work and I can barely keep my eyes open as I write this blog post I am so, so, so grateful to God for the strength and energy he has supplied me with.
I can do this work and then be tired.  Praise God.

Abstract Artwork

I came across this abstract piece of artwork as I was walking around downtown the other day in the area where there are many reception venues.
I don't really like abstract art, but this is so colorful and it's right at the gate of the venue so everyone on the street can see it as can anyone entering for an event.

Clean alleyway

While walking around downtown today to find a photo op, I passed through this amazingly clean alleyway and decided to grab a photo of it.
There's often graffiti on the walls, but seldom is there trash on the ground.

Alleyway Artwork

I was walking around downtown Abilene this afternoon waiting for my meeting to begin.  There's an alleyway that's been recently painted with beautifully colored graphic designs.
I made a few images, so I post this one today.

Sculpture at the Museum

When I was in the museum in Albany, Texas, one of the curators said it was ok to take photos as long as I didn't use flash.  Well, that worked fine for me since the room had a lot of light from the windows and my camera can shoot in a small amount of light anyway.
I saw this sculpture.  I'm not a fan of this type of art, but I made an image of it anyway.  I didn't read the description, but it looks like a scythe with a heart at the end of it.  hmmmm
Wonder what it's supposed to represent?

Graffiti Face on Wall

There's an area of downtown where there are a few businesses, some abandoned buildings and very little foot traffic.  This artwork is on the side of one of the empty buildings.  I've made images of it before, but never as a close-up.
"Close-up" is one of the prompts on my list, so this is what I got.
Any closer and it might have turned into an abstract, which I didn't want.

January 18th is "National Winnie the Pooh Day"

Something That Makes Me Smile

I decided to use a photo prompt list.  One of the prompts is 'Something That Makes Me Smile".  I went to town and found this graffiti in an alleyway that I don't usually go into.
It's so cute and it really did and does make me smile.

Downtown Mural

Another beautiful day weather-wise.  I've seen and photographed this mural several times, but it's so beautiful I couldn't resist getting another image of it.

Decorated Coffee Cups

While waiting an inordinately long time to place my coffee order at the coffee shop today, I decided to make another image of these decorated cups on the other side of the counter.  I asked the barista who decorated them and she said that various customers did them over a number of years.
What a great way to decorate one of the walls in the shop.

Graffiti

The topic for my photo group competition last week was graffiti.  Somehow I managed to miss this wall in downtown Abilene.  I found plenty of murals. Murals didn't count for the competition.
I guess I just didn't look hard enough.

Beautiful Artwork

Was this building a bank once upon a time?  The building seems to be abandoned now, but the artwork isn't faded.  It's one of the murals that's on the walking trail of murals around downtown Abilene, Texas.

My heart is grateful for:
beauty among abandoned places

Dream River Sculpture, Amsterdam, NY

I don't usually like abstracts, but this artwork is just beautiful and I can't resist making photos of it every time I'm in the area.  The sculptor is Dimitar Lukanov, it was created in 2019.  It's stainless steel with beautiful aqua color standing on a base of concrete and it's 32 feet tall.
It's located on the south side of the river in Amsterdam on the Amsterdam Pedestrian Bridge.
It would probably look great against a blue sky. Each time I've been there it's been cloudy but I still think it looks beautiful.

My heart is grateful for:
everyone having a unique vision for art and beauty
