There's nothing left except the chimneys and one building frame that was used 

as a commissary.

Pretty House

While I was waiting for my grandkid's testing for their martial arts classes, I walked around the neighborhood for a few minutes.  The houses in that area are really pretty, so I grabbed a few images of several different homes.  This is quite a large structure, but I really like the front door with the window on the side.

Novice Community Center

Another abandoned building.  Novice is a very small town with tiny population, so maybe there's a community center someplace else that people can go to.

This one is definitely unused.

Jesus with Lamb

Every month, on the Sat closest to the 15th of the month, my church serves a free dinner in the parking lot of a church in downtown Abilene.  There's a huge parking lot on the back side the structure, and in one of the grassy areas there's a statue of Jesus holding a staff with a lamb on His shoulder.  

For some reason this was the first time I really noticed the statue in the back yard of the Methodist church. The bird on Jesus' head just didn't seem to be bothered by my attention. 

 I had to snap a photo of it.  

I love statues and this one is so comforting.

We serve a lot of meals to homeless folks.  It's such a great ministry.

An Abandoned Bridge 

Riding through some country roads about an hour east of Abilene, we came across this bridge.  

The framework was still there, but the bridge headed off at a different angle over a creek.

Wind Mills

There are several wind mill farms around here.  Today I was out driving the country roads looking for a photo op and I came near to this grouping of wind mills.

It was the only sight I saw on my drive that looked photographically attractive, so I 

made a few images.  Then, since I was near my daughter's house, I stopped there for a few minutes for a visit with mom & dad and the kiddos.

Abandoned Bank Building

I came across this old abandoned bank building in a small, almost non-existent town about 1.5 hours from Abilene.  The date on the front of the building, which I removed, was 1911.

I wonder how many years the bank was active and how much of a town existed at that time?

Metal Tree against Business Wall

In Coleman, Texas there's a business with a long outside wall and this metal tree is set against the wall as decor.  It's really unique.  I couldn't help taking a photo of  it.

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving. SO MUCH to be thankful for!! but this is going to be one of the most quiet holidays for me that I've had in a long time.  My daughter's family went to their friend's house today for a meal and on Thursday they're doing nothing.  She's not cooking. She has a baby that's only a few months old plus 4 others under 7.5 years, so I know she needs the day to just chill and enjoy being with her husband.  

I'll have to figure out what to do with myself even though I'm actually looking forward to spending the day alone.

What is It?

I was walking around downtown Abilene today and came across this beautiful building which I've seen many times before.  There are no signs indicating what the structure is for.  It appears to be a large home, but I don't think it is.  It must be some kind of business, but whatever it is, it's beautiful.

Cottage Behind Stone Wall

This cottage looks so homey and comfy behind the stone wall.  It really isn't very large, so maybe it's just a storage shed and not a living space.

Concho County Courthouse

This beautiful courthouse is the Concho County Courthouse located in Paint Rock, Texas.  I'm glad I had the chance to photograph it today, since once the trees leaf out, this view of the building wouldn't be possible.  

The building was built in 1886 and it was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977.  It was built of limestone in the Second Empire Style.
