This fading painted arrow is pointing in the direction the traffic should travel in this spot.

The red paint on the curb is faded. It's been raining pretty much this summer so the grass is fairly green compared to other years.

Last 5-10-25 Cent Store

This store in Northville used to be a Woolworths.  When I was a kid there were Woolworth stores all over the east~~maybe in other parts of the country too, I'm not sure.

When I was a senior in high school, my first job was at a Woolworths which was within walking distance of my home in the Bronx.  Minimum wage was $1.25/hour.  I thought I was rich when I got my check.

This store boasts that it's the last 5-10-25 cent store in the country and it may well be.  It does good business and it's a destination spot for people who visit upstate NY.

Building in Colorado City

Today was a lovely weather day.  About 70 degrees with a slight wind. 

 By the middle of the afternoon I decided I needed to get out of the house and get some fresh air, so I drove to Colorado City.  I've been there before and taken photos there as well, but I never got this perspective of this abandoned building that might have been a hotel,

About 7.5 years ago I took some images of this structure.  At that time there were signs indicating that the building would be remodeled and refurbished.  So far that hasn't happened.

It's sad to see this structure continue to go to wrack n ruin.

Downtown Painting

Downtown Abilene has just finished refurbishing the streets and sidewalks of one of its main streets.

My favorite coffee shop has also recently remodeled a little inside.  One of the additions they've added is this beautiful painting of their shop and the street on which it lives. 

What a great addition to the decor of the shop.

The streets have been newly renovated but there was hardly any traffic to be seen.

Painted on a wall in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  Rt 66 runs through this town.

It brought back memories of watching the show when I was a child.

Our Mission Group 

Our mission group had their photo made in front of the hotel in Lima the first full day we were there.

There were 99 of us and we went out to minister to others in our different groups.

Road Construction

The city council in Abilene decided it was more important to revamp the Main Street than to maintain the roadways throughout town.  Hopefully this will be done soon.

Row of Homes

These 5 homes are only about 4 years old and are on the edge of downtown Abilene, Texas.  

They're within walking distance of the town if any of the residents care to walk.  They each have a driveway and a small back yard.

Before they were occupied I looked in the windows of the lower level.  It looked like the layout of each is the same, but I couldn't tell how many bedrooms are upstairs.

Abandoned Downtown Business

For as long as I've lived here, this place has looked exactly like this.  Abandoned and nothing has changed one bit.  I don't know what it was when it was an active business.  

There is little-to-no foot traffic in this location, but once upon a time there must have been.

Very curious.

Empty Building

This looks like a pretty interesting building, and even though it seems to be abandoned, there's a chalk drawing on one side and one of the overhead doors on the end is open, so there must be some kind of business--auto repair, machine shop or something of that sort.  

It seems weird that the main part of the building has been vacant and boarded up for years, but there's a business of some sort in one part.

Musical Yard Decor

I've driven past this house so many times.  Today I finally walked past it with my camera and was able to get a photo of this interesting piece of yard decor.  

Maybe the people in the house love music or are musicians.

Country Silos

This grouping of silos is located along a road in West Texas.  

I finally forced myself to go out for a photo field trip today and one of my friends agreed to go with me. 

Just before we left town it began drizzling and the temperature dropped to about 73 with some strong winds.  It was glorious.  By the time we arrived at our destination it was about 83 and stayed at that temp for the remainder of the day.

After I made some images of the silos in the previous posts, I turned around and saw the railroad tracks.  I love the way the switches look in the foreground.

Beautiful House

The beautiful house is located on the edge of Knoxville, Tennessee.  It sits on a street with several other houses of the same type of architecture that are painted other striking colors such as blue, yellow, medium green and pale green among others.
