Overhead Door with Sign

This green overhead door has a faded No Parking Sign on it.  There are three doors along the side of the building, but only this one sign that's totally faded.

Giant Jenga

There's an ex-business in downtown Abilene that has an outdoor courtyard that is filled now with free games.  This giant Jenga is on one of the tables and I thought it was pretty interesting so I grabbed a photo of it.

Coffee Shop Decor

My fave coffee shop has remodeled a little and they placed this plant in the corner with the frame in front of it.  What a cute idea.

Back Alley Entrance

Walking down a back ally, there was this entrance to a business.  A guarded window, electric boxes and a locked set of doors.  Late day sun casting sideway shadows.

Alleyway doorways

These two doors and the awning are located in an alleyway in Albany, Texas.   The building seems to be unused at the present time.

Orange Sculpture

This orange sculpture of squares is located outside the art building at Hardin-Simons University in Abilene, Texas.  The middle box is the same orange as the rest, but the way the sun was shining washed it out to a lighter shade.

It's pretty interesting I guess, but it's not what I would have used as an indicator or

the art building.

I made an image of this dancer quite a while ago, but this time the words "never stop" were on one of the bricks.

Protective Railing on Basement Window

One of the buildings in downtown Abilene has these protective railings on the basement windows.  They're really beautiful even though the basement windows are boarded closed now.

I've seen this building several times, so I finally pulled off the main road to get a photo of these colored sticks on the outside wall of an indoor storage facility.

It's just a simple decor on the building.

Row of Homes

These 5 homes are only about 4 years old and are on the edge of downtown Abilene, Texas.  

They're within walking distance of the town if any of the residents care to walk.  They each have a driveway and a small back yard.

Before they were occupied I looked in the windows of the lower level.  It looked like the layout of each is the same, but I couldn't tell how many bedrooms are upstairs.

Oil Tanks on Dirt Road

The weather was incredibly beautiful today.  It was sunny and only about 68 degrees.  

I took a drive on some back roads of a small town not too far from here and 

came across these oil tanks.

Nothing super exciting, but it was good to get out even if this was the only subject I managed to find to photograph.

Two Figurines

I went to Albany, Texas today and my friend and I went into the museum.  There was a room with Asian artifacts and I thought these figures were interesting.  

Surprisingly they said I could take pics as long as I didn't use flash. Great!!

I made several images and I'll scatter them through the coming days.

Textured Glass Entrance

While walking around Stamford, Texas we came upon this empty building.  I love these textured panes of glass and this little alcove appears to have been an entrance into the building once upon a time.  There's a huge piece of metal covering over what was a doorway.

Without knowing any history, structures like this are such a puzzle.

What was the building, why is it empty/closed/abandoned, who maintains the building in such good condition, who pays the taxes on an empty structure?  So many questions, no answers.

Succulent Plant

I went to lunch with some friends today and right outside the entrance of the restaurant was a HUGE succulent plant in a planter.  It was pristine and really beautiful.  I only had my cell phone camera with me but I made a close-up image of the plant anyway.

There were about 12 of us and we had a really good time.

This morning I played PickleBall, then went to line dancing class and then to the restaurant.

It's cold here now and there's a forecast for snow on Thursday. At least the snow and cold won't last long, which is a relief, except that summer is brutal.
