Decorative Vase

While walking around some of the side streets in Abilene this morning, I came across a house that had two vases, one on either side of the front door.  

I liked the way they looked but decided to photograph only one vase instead of both of them with the front door in the middle.

Flavors

While waiting for my fav coffee drink at the coffee shop, I decided to grab a pic of these flavors lined up against the far wall. 

They all sound good, but I get the exact same drink every time I'm in the store...

a large blended Tuxedo with whipped cream.

Maybe someday I'll try something different, but for now, that's what I get.

Indoor Plant

I love this Pothos plant.  It grows under crazy conditions.  There's almost nothing you can do to destroy it, except maybe not giving it any water.  I have some of them growing in dirt, but I love the way this looks growing in a water vase.

Giant Jenga

There's an ex-business in downtown Abilene that has an outdoor courtyard that is filled now with free games.  This giant Jenga is on one of the tables and I thought it was pretty interesting so I grabbed a photo of it.

Pothos Rooting in Water

I'm not a gardener.  I've tried it and I don't enjoy it.  But I love houseplants and usually have good luck with whatever I grow indoors.  This is a Pothos that I'm rooting in water.

You can leave it in water indefinitely, which is what I think I'll do with these cuttings.  I have another group in water in another part of the living room.

I should probably invest in a different kind of houseplant just for variety.

I'll have to look around and see what I can find.

Still Life

A couple of years ago I tried my hand at still life with the few items I had around my house, which wasn't much since I had just moved into a smaller space and had seriously purged my belongings. 

It was fun, it gave me something to do and I learned a little more about lighting.

I'm grateful today for:

Simplicity of Illumination

This past August some photo friends and I visited this house that is under renovation.  I can't even begin to explain the situation since I don't totally understand it myself.  But the house is one of those  old farmhouses that rambles on and on.  It's possible that it was once a nursing home or a home for mentally challenged adults.  It has so much personality and we were set free in it to photograph to our heart's content.

When I first saw this scene, the lights weren't on.  I took a few photos and then decided to plug the lights in.  The lights give it a peaceful comforting look I think.  I really like it.  I think I'll use it for a notecard.
