Abandoned Home

Well....it's day 10 of the new year and I've already outdone my posts of last year, when I actually only posted one image in January of the new year and the second image was months later.

Anyway, I've seen this house before.  It's been like this for at least 3 years and maybe longer.  Wonder what happened to the owners?  Did they pass on?  Did they just get sick of supporting the home financially?  Did they move out of the area?

The houses around it are nice and well taken care of.  No one complains about this eye-sore?  No one cares?  No one wants to be the snitch?

No way to know since I'm not from that neighborhood and don't know anyone to ask.  This is sad though.  It looks like it was a cute house once-upon-a-time.

Wandering Around the Neighborhood

I didn't go anywhere special today. I had a lot of work to do on the computer, and had to clean my room and pay attention to some bills. So I just took my camera and went for a walk around the neighborhood. These are some of the things I saw.

Remember I said I'm not too good at gardening? This is another thing I think I might be successful at. Almost a no-brainer if I could remember to water it regularly. I think it looks sweet.

Being winter in Hawaii means that there aren't too many flowers in bloom. But I did manage to find a few of these growing in a hedge at one home. They're awesome.

This one is growing in Kristine's yard. She says it's part of the gardenia family. Even though it's in the dieing stages, I think the image looks pretty interesting, and boy does it smell wonderful. I guess I never paid too much attention to gardenias before.

This little guy was just sitting on the concrete right outside the house and he stayed still enough for me to get several shots.

I love signs with personality.

And this is one of my favorites. Bird of Paradise. Not too many blooming at this time of year, but I managed to see this one in someone's yard.

Baby Blocks

As I mentioned before Christmas, I love wooden alphabet blocks. This was another day that almost got away from me, photographically speaking. When I took the baby for a walk, I took my camera too, but this is a really boring neighborhood. After putting the baby to bed, it occurred to me that I still didn't have a post. Sigh.

Then I remembered that I had these borrowed blocks in my car. So out to the car I went, and this is the result. I hated using the flash, but it's dark already, so flash it is. I wanted to make some creative adjustments to the image, but since I'm using a new version of Elements and I don't yet have the instruction manual, and I didn't want to spend all night trying to find the right buttons to push, those adjustments will have to wait.
