Wind Mills

There are several wind mill farms around here.  Today I was out driving the country roads looking for a photo op and I came near to this grouping of wind mills.
It was the only sight I saw on my drive that looked photographically attractive, so I
made a few images.  Then, since I was near my daughter's house, I stopped there for a few minutes for a visit with mom & dad and the kiddos.

Ex-bank Graffiti

This structure must have been a bank at one time.  Now it's something else, but one side of the wall is fully painted in bright colors and it faces a parking lot so it can been seen by all who park there.

Sleeping Beauty Mountain

Back in 2018, before I moved to Texas, these ladies and I would hike once a week in the Adirondacks of NYS.  We started hiking together about 18 years ago only hiking in the warmer weather and then we decided we'd hike all year. In the winter we'd hike just a trail usually, using snow shoes or spikes. It was so beautiful we wondered why we didn't hike year round all those earlier years.

One year we trained all summer to be able to hike Mt Marcy, which is the highest high-peak in the Adirondacks.  It took us 11 hours up and back.  The view from the top was amazing.

In this photo we were holding up one finger to indicate that this was the first in a series of hikes we planned on doing that year.
Upstate NY is beautiful, unlike central Texas.  Of course the current politics in NY leave a lot to be desired now, but back in those days it wasn't bad.
I miss those gals and those days of hiking.
(and yes, I took the pic by putting the camera on a small tripod)

Abandoned Bldg in Ranger

I don't know what this building was once upon a time, but now it's just a shell, no walls or floor plan
inside, just some supporting poles holding up the beams that supported the upper floors.
There are planters along the outside of the lower level, as though someone is trying too make the building/sidewalk look nice.

Two Buildings in Eastland

Today was a field trip to Eastland, TX.  These two buildings are in the downtown area.  The taller one looks to be uninhabited, but would surely make a great apartment building.  I couldn't tell about the other one.
The weather was beautiful today for walking around getting photos,  We stopped in to a great coffee shop for coffees and a snack.  It was a really good day.

Clock Tower

This beautiful clock tower is located on the campus of Hardin Simmons University in Abilene, Texas.
It has an arch under it that allows students to walk the path from the sidewalk onto the campus between two buildings.  The tower is red brick with a golden dome.

Baptist Church

I went to an estate sale this afternoon.  I don't ever want to buy anything, but it's something to do and it gets me out of the house.
I'm always astounded at how much is in those houses~~what do people do with so much stuff, most of which is put away in cabinets and closets and not even used.
Anyway, after that I decided to drive around and look for some photo ops.
Before I got out of town I drove down some streets I've never been on before and I came upon this beautiful Baptist Church.  What an interesting building.

Front Wall

This is the front wall of a business that no longer exists at this site in Ranger, Texas.  It sits on a corner of the block.  It doesn't look like there was a fire, but there is no text or any markers indicating what type of business it used to be.

Old Barn

It was 100 degrees today, ugh.  It was also the Sat for Jesus Feeds~~once a month my church sets up a food station in a church parking lot in downtown Abilene and anyone can come by and have something to eat at no charge.
It's an awesome ministry.

This seemingly abandoned barn structure is located in Sweetwater, Texas.  I don't know anything about it, just that it looked like a great photo op with the blue sky and clouds in the background.

Downtown Office Building

This is one of the buildings in downtown Abilene.  The sky was a beautiful color blue with the puffy clouds, but when I turned the image to black and white, I really liked the way it looks.

Bringing the Coffee

There's one overhead bridge in Abilene.  I'm hardly ever downtown during business hours, but today I was.  There were a lot of people crossing the bridge so I took my time and just waited.  I got some good shots, but I like this one.  Bringing the Coffee.

Which Way to Go?

On the way home the other day, we stopped at a place to eat and there was this direction sign out back.   I couldn't resist grabbing a shot of it and editing it a little differently than usual.
