Chili's Restaurant

It's been a long time since I've eaten in a Chili's.  I can't remember the last time I was in one.

They serve HUGE portions, so the meal I got would probably feed me for three meals.  

It was really good and it was fun getting to know some of the folks a little.

This Chili's is on the north side of town so after eating it was good to drive around and look for some photo opportunities.  

It's just plain HOT, HOT, HOT here and we're all waiting for the temps to go down, and we NEED  some rain.

Another Abandoned Building

Was this a gas station, a community center, a home?  No way to tell.  There seems to be a dog house in the yard to the right of the structure, but that still doesn't indicate what the building was. It also looks like there was a large window next to the door that was covered over at one time.  

It's obviously been abandoned for a long time.

Church Steeple

I was out looking for an "old" church to photograph for the photo club assignment and I came across this beautiful white steeple in a small town.  There are many like this but this one was right on my path so I took some photos of it.  It doesn't really fit the assignment, but I needed a photo for the blog, so here ya go.

Painted Building

One of the alleyways in downtown Abilene is painted in these beautiful colors and designs.  It's a pleasure to see them instead of just the plain bricks of the building.

Clock Tower on Campus

This clock tower is located on one of the college campuses in Abilene, Texas.  The sky is blue, and the bricks are a variation ion red and tan.  This tower is one of the main sights to see on the campus.

Old Homestead

This old, abandoned home is on the outskirts of Colorado City, Texas  There are two TV dishes in the yard.  The structure is pretty much destroyed.

This building is abandoned, but it has a 7-up logo painted on the side with the name of the town

In Mineral Wells, TX, there's this building which is a hotel.  It sits right along the Main Street of the town.

Peaked Roof of Abandoned Church

This is an abandoned church on one of the side streets in Anson, TX.  Doors and windows are covered with boards and the bell from the steeple is missing.

Building Cornerstone

This is an abandoned church building down one of the side streets in Anson.  The structure is boarded up and the belfry had no bell.  The grass badly needs to be cut.

In the Adirondacks

This beautiful scene is in the Adirondacks of New York State.

Yankee Hill Lock

This is the remnant of the Yankee Hill Lock when goods were moved from the east side of NY to the west side by waterway.  To the left of the image is the Mohawk River.  

This is a destination spot with the original store in between the lock and the river (not seen).  During the summer there are concerts held in front of the store.  There are also picnic tables and grills scattered around for people to have picnics and meetings.

Aqua Artwork

The bridge going from the north side of town over the river to the south side of town has some beautiful artwork displayed.  This is one of my favorites.  I don't usually like abstract art, but I certainly like this one.

New Boardwalk

I'm visiting a place that has added a new board walk since the last time I was here.  It runs along a river, not a beach (sadly), but it's very nice and I hope the folks who live here take good care of it.

Abandoned White House on Road

This White House is alone the Main Street entering a small town in central Texas.  It's been vacant for a long time.
