Locked Door

These are doors to an abandoned church in the outskirts of downtown Abilene, Texas.  There's no sign indicating what kind of a church it was, but the windows are boarded and there is this lock and chain on the entrance doors.

I Heart Manny

I was walking around downtown looking for some images for the next photo group competition when I came across this graffiti in one of the alleyways.
I hope "Manny" sees it.

Abandoned Sanctuary

This is the inside of an abandoned country church.  The church sits next to a cemetery.
The interior seems to be in pretty good condition.  There was no information anywhere in or around  the structure indicating what church it was or the years it was active.
It must have been a sweet congregation.

Abandoned Country House 3

Another beautiful weather day.  A friend and I spent the afternoon driving around looking for photo ops.
We came upon this abandoned house.  Sadly we couldn't get any closer because of the locked gate and the barbed wire, but I think the image  looks great anyway.

Graffiti With Pole

In the alleyway downtown that's painted, this pole isn't painted.  It's too bad they didn't paint the pole the same colors as the wall it sits in front of.

Off Road Cabin

On the way to Rule, Texas we saw this very, very abandoned cabin just off the main road.  There's probably not anything redeemable about this structure but it sure makes for a great photo.  We walked all around the cabin and there wasn't a bad perspective to be seen considering how decrepit the structure is.

Rustic Steps at the State Park

I took a drive to the state park about ½ hour from here.  It's really not a very exciting park, but there were a lot of people wandering the trails and a lot of campers, probably because it was a holiday and the weather was so beautiful.  I love these stairs, but one can only make just so many images of them.  I've made one or two images in the summer when things are more green, but it still doesn't look much different.
At least it was some outdoor exercise and it was great to be walking through a forested-looking area rather than the track around the gym at the Y.

Abandoned? garage

Walked down a street I haven't been on before while waiting for the grandkid's lesson to begin.
This was a garage once upon a time.
It probably contains random forgotten items now.

This totem pole is located on the campus of Alaska University Fairbanks.  It was completed in 1963 by Amos Wallace. It's 48 feet tall and contains 8 figures from top to bottom: raven, frog, giant cannibal, frog, mosquito, frog, bear, wolf.

Another Abandoned building

As I was driving a new route home today, I came upon this seemingly abandoned church building.
There's a sign off to the right of the building, but it's empty so I don't even know what denomination it originally was.

Garage Door Mural

Driving through the little town of Buffalo Gap, Texas, I saw this garage door mural and in the background of the backyard was a table with brightly painted bird houses.  This place might be a small retreat house of some kind, but there was no signage and no people around to ask.

I'm grateful for:
art

I saw this tower while I was walking around some side streets in Cisco, Texas.  I have no idea what it was originally.

I'm grateful for:

Antique Coffee Grinder

I've been looking for one of these for a long time and I finally found exactly the one I wanted the other day, Now the trick is to display it in my house so I can enjoy it, even though there isn't much display area in my house.

Such a little thing to give so much pleasure.

My heart is grateful for:

21/365   Decor in an Air bnb space

What a nice idea for decor in the kitchen of an Air bnb.  It's the little homey touches that make a space welcoming, not only in a public space, but even in your own home.
