Dirty Keyboard

I recently got a PT job and part of the job consists of labeling & categorizing products on the computer.  A male college student was doing the job during the summer and boy, could he whip around the sites quickly, a lot quicker than I'll ever be able to.  

But.....look at this keyboard, yuk.  So when I took over I started to clean the keys but decided to take a pic before finishing just so I'd have something to post.  By the time I got done the keyboard was crystal clean, but it didn't improve my speed.  I'll get the job done, just not a quickly.

Ain't Technology Grand? (late post for Sunday)

Several weeks ago, the daughter of a friend of mine got married. The photographer was some relative of the groom, so I didn't really have a "job" that day. Until....the bride's mom called me about a week before the wedding to see if I knew anyone who had a camcorder.

We had just gotten a new one at Christmas, so I offered to do the video. Never having done video for something so important, I was pretty nervous, especially since I had also never used the camcorder since it's purchase.

Well, I won't brag about my abilities as a videographer, but I did it and at least they'll have something to look at as the years go by. This is definitely a job I don't ever want to do again!

Last night I finally got around to transferring the video to the computer and then burning it to a dvd. Of course, nothing is ever easy. My computer doesn't burn dvds, only cds. But, my son to the rescue. He has an external gadget that can burn dvds. We got it all hooked up only to find out that my laptop is missing something else, so it wouldn't read his gadget.

So, plan B. Put the video on the external hard drive, go connect it to his laptop, along with the external dvd burner, and eventually, voila!! dvds of the wedding. Hooray!

Then the icing on the cake (no pun intended when you see the image on the cd) is that my son has another gadget to put an image and text on the face of the dvd. Very cool. Ain't technology grand?

So the job is done.

Now I just have to get busy with all the other jobs I have to do that I've been procrastinating doing...

Wednesday's post

Not very inspired today-y'all can relate to that, right? I spent the morning on the computer, paying bills, cleaning a little and making spaghetti sauce and meatballs. Ooops, just occurred to me I could have taken a photo of that. Oh well....

I took the sauce to my friend Jackie's, and we had dinner together and then watched a cute movie, "27 Dresses" (or something close to that).

Returning home in the dark is tricky, because Nathan is already asleep and he's in the room I enter when I unlock the door. So I have to employ stealth tactics, and work in the dark, unless I have my trusty wind-up flash light handy. Love this gadget! So these are my two best friends when I come home at night.

Wandering Around the Neighborhood

I didn't go anywhere special today. I had a lot of work to do on the computer, and had to clean my room and pay attention to some bills. So I just took my camera and went for a walk around the neighborhood. These are some of the things I saw.

Remember I said I'm not too good at gardening? This is another thing I think I might be successful at. Almost a no-brainer if I could remember to water it regularly. I think it looks sweet.

Being winter in Hawaii means that there aren't too many flowers in bloom. But I did manage to find a few of these growing in a hedge at one home. They're awesome.

This one is growing in Kristine's yard. She says it's part of the gardenia family. Even though it's in the dieing stages, I think the image looks pretty interesting, and boy does it smell wonderful. I guess I never paid too much attention to gardenias before.

This little guy was just sitting on the concrete right outside the house and he stayed still enough for me to get several shots.

I love signs with personality.

And this is one of my favorites. Bird of Paradise. Not too many blooming at this time of year, but I managed to see this one in someone's yard.
