Don't Whine

This sign is in one of the places we go to eat after Sunday night Bible Study.
The place is one step up from a fast food restaurant and everything they make is delicious.
No whining at this place.

WELCOME

I've seen this sign many times before, but decided to photograph it today.
I think the place is out of business, but not sure.  I love that the management is determining the dress code. It was probably a nice place to spend some time with friends.

Fine Art

Before getting my coffee at the coffee shop, I was walking around looking for photo ops.  This is the sign for an art gallery and I've seen it so many times before, but never thought of getting an image of it.
It was an overcast sky, so it's just plain white.  I bet it would be even prettier if the sky were blue.
Maybe I'll try another time.

Foursquare Church

As I was driving around an area of Abilene that I've never been to before, I came across this Foursquare Church.  It's actually quite a bit larger than it looks in this image.  It's a large horseshoe shaped building, but getting the entire structure in a picture wasn't too attractive since a lot of the street/sidewak and sky would be in the photo.  I preferred this composition.

Free Repair

I think I saw this sign on a vacuum repair building, but I don't remember what it was referring to.  Maybe if you had a certain kind of work done, they'd do something else for free.  Anyway, I thought it was kind of interesting with the vertical black lines and then the blue letters.

Which Way to Go?

On the way home the other day, we stopped at a place to eat and there was this direction sign out back.   I couldn't resist grabbing a shot of it and editing it a little differently than usual.

Mosquito Warning

If you go to Denali Park in Alaska in the summer, be warned about the mosquitoes.

I pulled into a parking area in Coleman, TX in order to check
directions and I saw this sign.
It cracks me up.
I had to get an image of it.

Once Upon a Convenience Store

This sign was on a corner in front of an abandoned gas station and convenience store.
It must have been a fairly thriving business at one time.
Another sad and forgotten place in rural Texas.

Yapping Dawg

I saw this place down a side road outside of Anson, TX.  It's a stand-alone building, apparently selling liquor - beer & wine.  The building is pink, has a small entrance door, a window with protective bars and a list of hours that it's open.
It appears to be abandoned.

SODA district

This sign is at a business on the south side of Abilene, Texas.  SODA stands for "south of downtown Abilene", and it's a complete area that contains reception venues, bars, and other social gathering places. The sign is illuminated once it gets dark.

Sign at Zoo

This afternoon my daughter/grandkids and I went to the Cisco Zoo for an outing.  The weather was beautiful (maybe a little warm).  The Zoo was in operation between 1920-1930 so now there's just walking trails and the remains of animal enclosures along with several abandoned cabins that were rented to people wanting to stay on the grounds of the zoo property.
We spent time walking the trails on the property at the opposite end from where the animal enclosures are.  Obviously, there's a Balancing Rock nearby.  I got a laugh out of the sign.
The kiddos had a great time and they were very sad when we said it was time to leave.

Car Dealership?

I've seen this type of building in many towns, but they've all been abandoned or used for some other business.  Wonder what they were originally.  Kind of looks like a car dealership or car repair place.  In any event, they're interesting.
This building is located in Paint Rock, Texas, Concho County.

Curbside

This is the ONLY good thing to have come out of the covid debacle.  If stores already didn't offer curbside shopping, they began during the alleged pandemic.
I HATE to shop.  Always have and always will, so this curbside shopping is just the thing.

Kids Running Logo

I was walking around downtown Abilene yesterday in an area I don't usually walk in and I came across this sign for a Day Care Center. It's such a happy looking sign and I was able to photograph it without the words which were on the bottom of the sign.
It's been a very quiet day.  I went to church this morning, then home.  I read a little and am now watching TV as I write this blog.  It's 49 degrees right now (I should be outside doing something more constructive than just sitting in front of the TV-sigh) and it will be 72 by Sat. I'll have to figure out something interesting to do outside by the end of the week.

One set of train tracks in Abilene, TX comes to an end.  Another set goes straight through the downtown area.

Envy Nightclub sign and black car.

I just thought this made a cute image.  The black sign "Envy" and the black car parked almost perfectly beneath it.

My heart is grateful for the photo job I had today

Restaurant Sign

I've been downtown so many times and N.E.V.E.R thought of taking a photo of this sign.  I guess I've just never looked "up" when passing this place.  I finally did and how cool is the sign?

My heart is grateful for:
how busy I was today in spite of the cold weather
