This staircase is in an alleyway going up to the 2nd floor.  The building seems abandoned, and there's one broken pane of glass in the window.  This image was made on a cloudy July day and the temps were pretty moderate.

Metal Tree against Business Wall

In Coleman, Texas there's a business with a long outside wall and this metal tree is set against the wall as decor.  It's really unique.  I couldn't help taking a photo of  it.

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving. SO MUCH to be thankful for!! but this is going to be one of the most quiet holidays for me that I've had in a long time.  My daughter's family went to their friend's house today for a meal and on Thursday they're doing nothing.  She's not cooking. She has a baby that's only a few months old plus 4 others under 7.5 years, so I know she needs the day to just chill and enjoy being with her husband.  

I'll have to figure out what to do with myself even though I'm actually looking forward to spending the day alone.

I was in Bangs, TX today and came across this graffiti on the wall outside a feed store.

Blue Door and Staircase

This blue door and filigreed metal staircase is seen on the outside wall of a business in 

Colorado City, Texas.  

It's been about 5 years since I've been there and this scene looks exactly like it did

5 years ago.  You don't see many staircase railings that are this fancy. It's just lovely.

On  a ride down a country road, there was an area where there were many pieces of antique equipment on display.  The gate was open so we walked around to look at the equipment.

Downtown Abstract

One of the buildings in downtown Abilene has this decor on one of its outside walls.  I'm not a fan of abstract, but for some reason I love this.  It looks good and it's a great place to do high school senior photos. 

There's actually a sign for handicapped parking which I removed for the sake of the image.

Went to church this morning, then back home.  I worked on a quilt for a little while. 

 It was about 19 degrees this morning and is only about 32 now. 

 It will be in the mid 50s by the middle of the week thankfully.

An apartment building on the main street of  downtown Cisco, TX. On the back side of the building is this huge, easily navigated fire escape.

Outside Tables

These table are outside a business in downtown Fairbanks, AK called the Fudge Pot.  The establishment sells food and, of course, fudge.

I didn't go inside because I was afraid I'd succumb to my love of fudge, but I enjoyed getting this image of the outside of the business.

Another perspective of the Creamery Visitor Center.  

I was walking around, waiting for my companion to show up, when I saw a young man on a bicycle on the path just looking around at the building.  I took a few photos and then went to the parking area.  When I turned back around the young man had parked his bike next to the building and he was taking photos of the structure.  I was so tempted to talk to him and see what he was seeing that I might have missed, but I didn't.

Abstract Sculpture on Alaska University Fairbanks

While I was waiting for some friends so we could attend a musical concert their children were part of, I wandered around the Alaska campus for a few minutes.  

This sculpture is in front of the library building.  I didn't see any explanation or name for it, but I thought it was interesting.

A couple of weeks ago I saw a list of photo prompts online and one of them was "negative space".  I've done that before, and since I saw the idea I've been looking.  It's not easy to find such a scene, but I think this works.

Metal Dragonfly

A friend of mine was talking to the property manager of an RV park and while I was waiting, I looked around and saw this house.  It was an ordinary, not very interesting house, but obviously it was a home that someone was proud of.  The side of the house was decorated with about 8 or 9 of these metal dragonflies.  

This was the most interesting one of them all.  It was late afternoon and the light was so pretty and the shadows really added to the effect.  I didn't think about it at the time, but I'm also partial to the color green, so all-in-all this turned out to be a Great Grab Shot.  

Yay for the fact that I had my SLR with me and didn't have to capture this image with my phone camera. which I'm sure would have worked ok, but then I would've been wishing I had the SLR.
