Doughnuts

Today was the last day of early voting here in Abilene.  One of the other clerks was kind enough to bring doughnuts for us this morning.  

Some of us ordered burgers for lunch,  and one of the clerks went out to get them for us.  The price was amazing and the burgers were incredibly delicious.  I guess I'll have to keep that burger place in mind the next time I get a burger craving.

Downtown Building

I thought this was an interesting perspective on this building in downtown Abilene.  

Years ago I was in Europe and a lot of the older buildings had many of their windows boarded up.

The tour guide told us it was because, once upon a time, there was a tax on the number of windows a building had, so the owners boarded the windows to lower their tax bills.

I don't think that's the reason theses lower windows are boarded, but it's an interesting idea.

This beautiful church building is located in Stamford, TX on a corner of one of the main streets through the center of town.

Three Angels

There's a church in town that puts up some classy decorations at Christmas time.  I've never seen these angels before,  but that could be because I never walked around the church in daylight.

Anyway, I think they're pretty and I'm glad I got to see them before they are taken down.

Thanksgiving Day Morning

It's Thanksgiving Day, 2014.  There's much to be thankful for, the primary thing being that there's a God in heaven Who has everything under control even though it seems like this country and this world is spinning wildly into oblivion.  God has His plans and they can't be thwarted.  All that is happening is by His permission and design...

A couple of days ago I made some French bread.  This morning I had an epiphany and decided to make French toast with the remaining French bread. So yummy.

After I took a few photos of the bread cooking, it occurred to me that I could take some photos of the meal itself.  So I quickly got things set up (too quickly I'm afraid because after I was done and looked at the photos, I realized what I could have done better--but hunger was motivating me to hurry) and made a few images.

I finally had the chance to eat, and it was as good as I had anticipated.
