Cluster of Silos

Down one of the side streets in Cisco there's a cluster of silos.  It's hard for me to tell if the structures are abandoned or used, but it's easy to see that once upon a time they were active and a vital part of the community.

135/365
Broken Window

One of the large buildings in Cisco, TX is abandoned.  Many of the windows are broken.  This one is on the ground level and has blue tape covering the broken pane so no one gets cut if they touch it.  The building is about 5 stories high and it's a wonder that it's been abandoned since I arrived in TX seven years ago.  It's just going to wrack & ruin, which is very sad.

134/365
Coca-Cola sign

This beautiful red and white wall art is on one of the buildings in an alleyway in Cisco, TX.
It says "Relieves Fatigue" at the bottom, with a 5 cent price.
I don't remember it being 5 cents, but I do remember it being 15 cents.  I drink Pepsi.

133/365
Boarded Windows

Walking around Cisco, TX, I saw the building down a side street.  It was abandoned and it had these boards on the windows and doors that I thought were interesting.

Rain in the Parking Lot

It seems like we're getting more rain here in Texas this year that in the previous years.  I'm so, so, so happy about it.  It was raining petting hard the other day, so I decided to grab a pic.  Not too exciting, but I'm happy about the rain.

Baby Quilt

When I only had 3 grand babies and a lot of time on my hands, I decided I'd make each of them a single-bed-sized quilt when they turned 2.  Well, I have 7 little ones right now, but there are only 3 under 2 years.  One of them has a birthday at the end of May, so I got busy and made this quilt for him.
(There are 2 more who will turn 2 and a great grand baby who will be 2 a year from July.)

I mailed it to him (he's in Alaska) the other day so it should arrive on time.

Windows with Green Awnings

At the far end of Abilene, there's a building with windows and green awnings.  The building might be used as an event space, but I've never seen anyone go in or out of it.
The building looks like it's being taken care of.

127/365
Another Abandoned Structure

At the end of Abilene there's another abandoned building.  It looks like there might be some restoration going on, but not sure.

126/365
Vacant Building on South Side

This corner building is vacant and has been for a number of years.  The wood is painted blue but the windows and doors are boarded up with no access to the inside.
Wonder what the building was originally?

125/365
Electric boxes on Pole

There's a vacant lot on a corner in downtown Abilene that is empty except for these electric boxes.
I don't now what they do or what they power, but this empty lot has been like this since I've been here
for the past 7 years.

124/365
Green Eggs and Ham

Abilene contains a park that specializes in Dr Seuss stories, and this one is Green Eggs and Ham.

Last night I went to the rodeo.  A lot of teams, a lot of great riding.

It was a fun experience.

Old Bank Building

The vacant/abandoned bank building was seen in a totally forsaken small town.  I thought it was wild that there was a cactus growing out of the roof.

112/365
Alley Doorway

This doorway is located in an alleyway in town.  Just a simple door and window.

111/365
Crown of Thorns

In one of the vacant store fronts in downtown Abilene, there are paintings on display.  I've passed this painting several times in the past, but finally decided to make an image of it this time.
I think it's beautiful.  The other paintings are gorgeous too.

Retro Mailboxes

I was in a building in a small town near Abilene and they had a wall of retro items on display.
These two old mailboxes were on the wall.  I wish we still had these for our mail.

Coleman Abandoned Gas Station

Another abandoned gas station building/garage located in Coleman, TX

108/365
An Abandoned Bridge

Riding through some country roads about an hour east of Abilene, we came across this bridge.
The framework was still there, but the bridge headed off at a different angle over a creek.

What cute kids.

At the zoo this morning, I saw this pretty painted fence with wildflowers behind it.
Such a pretty scene.

Theo of Golden

I belong to a book group that meets once a month.  This is the book we're reading now.  I never heard of it until now.  I've been trying not to buy books (which isn't really working very well) so that I don't have  extra "things" in my house to clean out, or to leave behind for my kiddos to clean out.
I borrowed this book from one of the other members......
If you haven't read this book, get yourself a copy.  It's fantastic.  The writing is wonderful and the story is great.  I'm only halfway through it.  I'm reading it fast and then slow. I want to know what happens but I want it to last.  I have to give it back to the owner but I think I'll purchase my own copy so I can re-read it whenever I want to.
Rating it from one to ten, it's a 10+++++++, just sayin'.

While waiting for the IRS to open, I saw this bull statue.
So interesting.

96/365
Colored Circles

I went into a building I've never been in before in Abilene.  I needed to go to the IRS office.  While waiting for it to open after their lunch break I wandered around and saw this circle sculpture.
Pretty interesting, right?

Fishing

It was another beautiful early spring day today.

EASTER

I took a short ride to get out of the house and went to the lake near my place.  There were many folks at the lake fishing and enjoying the day.
I managed to get a pic of this guy without him noticing me.

94/365
Abandoned Gas Station

On the way into Colorado City there are some abandoned structures.  This one happens to be an old gas station.  On the right corner is what was the office and to the  left of the image there are two overhead doors where work on the cars probably took place.

93/365
Building in Colorado City

Today was a lovely weather day.  About 70 degrees with a slight wind.
By the middle of the afternoon I decided I needed to get out of the house and get some fresh air, so I drove to Colorado City.  I've been there before and taken photos there as well, but I never got this perspective of this abandoned building that might have been a hotel,
About 7.5 years ago I took some images of this structure.  At that time there were signs indicating that the building would be remodeled and refurbished.  So far that hasn't happened.
It's sad to see this structure continue to go to wrack n ruin.

Wind Mills

There are several wind mill farms around here.  Today I was out driving the country roads looking for a photo op and I came near to this grouping of wind mills.
It was the only sight I saw on my drive that looked photographically attractive, so I
made a few images.  Then, since I was near my daughter's house, I stopped there for a few minutes for a visit with mom & dad and the kiddos.

Hitting the Ball

At the softball game one of our hitters smacked the ball, which you can see on the right side of the image, and ran a few bases.
It was a good game.

Coin Toss at Softball Game

This is the 2nd softball game I've attended to watch my church team play.  The two coaches and the ref are looking down at the coin they tossed to determine which team goes to bat first.
I really love shooting through chain link.
The church team won tonight. They played really well.  Several of their hits went over the fence for home runs.  It was a good game and great weather.

Staircase Windows

In another alley in downtown there's a staircase that has these small glazed windows along the wall.  I noticed the broken pane which I had not seen before.  Wonder how it got broken???

88/365
Mushroom Graffiti

In a different location than the eye graffiti, there's this mushroom graffiti.  The artwork I gorgeous, I couldn't resist taking a photo of it.

87/365
Eye Graffiti

In one of the alleys in downtown Abilene there's a blank yellow wooden wall and today I noticed that there's two beautiful graffiti designs on it.  Both are signed, but I can't read the writing.
