Soccer Game

Today I attended a middle-school soccer game. Amsterdam vs. Troy at Troy. My friend's son played. It's a little trickier to photograph soccer than it is to photograph football. Everything is faster and seems more spread out. So I was pretty unhappy with most of the images I got. These three are just moderately satisfactory.

It was a beautiful afternoon--a great day to be outdoors. The game was fun to watch.

These next two images were just an experiment with different depth of field. This first one is focused on the team in the background.

This next image is focused on the soccer ball in the foreground.

I love your experiment with DOF and perspective using the soccer ball!!!

In my opinion, the image of the ball in focus...that being the foreground subject...is much more pleasing to the eye than the image in which the background subject (the team) is in focus. The eye is naturally drawn to the large, bright object in the foreground and I feel it is a stronger image with that subject in focus. Also, I feel that image is stronger of the two because of additional team players visible in the background. Just my opinion, though! :-)

Nice job...and glad you were able to be outside enjoying that beautiful day! :-)

I do like that image of the ball in focus best and agree with Trish's perspective. Nice job with the action shots, it is a challenging job tring to get those shots. Looks like you had a beautiful day too!
