Miscellaneous and a Dilemma
38/365

Our church meets in an elementary school cafetorium. This past Sunday I noticed this little guy sleeping on one of the tables in the back after the service.  His siblings had put the toys on his forehead and the church bulletin in his hands and he continued to sleep through it.  I couldn't resist the picture.  He's one of 9 children and, as my daughter conjectured, when there are that many kids in a house, you learn to sleep anywhere/anytime.  He cracked us up.

This morning my friend, Betty, my daughter and I went to Disney for breakfast.
I think you can probably tell from the look on her face that it was all good.

Goofey goofing with the kids.  (I want that photographer's job)

Now for my dilemma.  Yesterday I spent at least 2 hours on the phone with tech support and the virus removal tech to get a Trojan virus removed from my computer for the third time in 18 months.  And yes, I do have virus protection.  A lot of good it's doing me though.  Each episode costs $90.  I'm beginning to wonder if it isn't a conspiracy between the sickos who spread the virus and the Anti-virus companies.  Do I sound just a little lot cynical.

Anyway, my son has been trying to persuade me to get a M...M....Ma.....Mac (there I actually said it, and it wasn't easy, believe me) computer for a couple of years because they are virtually virus free.

But I'm a PC person and I'm brand loyal.  You know, kind of like Canon (which rocks) vs Nikon, Lays Potato chips vs any other brand, Saab cars vs any other car, Hawaii vs any other state.

Well today I actually darkened the door of an Apple Store.  It was tough, I almost turned around and walked out, but I persevered.  Then I saw the prices.   Oh.     My.     Gosh!!!  Still, I persevered.  I asked my questions (at least the ones I could remember, because, after all, I totally forgot to write them down as I thought of them beforehand), and I watched as the gear-head showed me a few things on the machine.  I'm still not sold.

So, what do you think?  I know what one of you will say, but what about the other few who might read this blog.  What's your opinion?

OH MY GOSH...THERE IS NO DILEMMA IN MY MIND!!! OUR WHOLE FAMILY HAS SWITCHED TO MACS, AND WE HAVEN'T HAD VIRUS ISSUES SINCE...7 YEARS VIRUS FREE!!! :-) BUY YOUR MAC AND DON'T LOOK BACK! (Hey...that could be a commerical jingle...BUY YOUR MAC AND DON'T LOOK BACK!)...LOL!

P.S. LOVE THE PICS, TOO! :-)

Love the photo of the boy! That's totally something my kids would do, but none of them would sleep through something like that!

Everything you said it your last few paragraphs totally represents my opinion! Well, except for the Saab. I'm a Honda fan myself. I totally agree with the PC and Canon statements. I've never been to Hawaii but I'm sure I would love it too!

Since I got an iPhone, I'm getting familiar with Apple. But I still like my PC. I've never before heard that Macs are virtually virus free.

Nothing is more irritating than computer viruses! I think I would contact your anti-virus company and demand they pay the service fee!

I had reservations before making the switch to my Mac Book Pro, but I have never regretted the decision. I have grown to love how easy they are to operate. I also really appreciate that Apple stands behind their product. I also feel that, even though the computer is more expensive initially, the cost of operating a Mac is lower. For example, when I bought my computer there was a newer operating system that had recently been released. I was given a free upgrade. I couldn't help but notice the price that others would be required to pay, for future reference. The full price cost of upgrading was $30. A quick check on the Microsoft homepage shows the current price to upgrade to Windows 7 is $119.99. When I upgraded, I had no issues with compatibility from my software and was not forced to then upgrade additional programs. I also got to skip the antivirus software, which is a nice savings! The computer itself came with several programs and, unlike Microsoft, they were the full version! I have found that software prices are comparable for those programs I have purchased. Also, I was able to use my external hard drive on both my PC and my Mac, with no issues transferring photos over to the new computer. My reservations are long gone, and I am so glad I made the switch! Good luck with your decision!
