This interesting building houses the Ranger, Texas City Hall and Police Station.  It sits on a corner in the downtown area.

Front Wall

This is the front wall of a business that no longer exists at this site in Ranger, Texas.  It sits on a corner of the block.  It doesn't look like there was a fire, but there is no text or any markers indicating what type of business it used to be.

Second Baptist Church

This church building is located in Ranger, Texas.  In 2022 it experienced a huge fire and has been vacant ever since.

Old Barn

It was 100 degrees today, ugh.  It was also the Sat for Jesus Feeds~~once a month my church sets up a food station in a church parking lot in downtown Abilene and anyone can come by and have something to eat at no charge.
It's an awesome ministry.

This seemingly abandoned barn structure is located in Sweetwater, Texas.  I don't know anything about it, just that it looked like a great photo op with the blue sky and clouds in the background.

Almost a Hi Rise

I looked up at one of the almost hi rise downtown buildings in Abilene.  I'm not sure what the building is used for, but aside from the blue sky, there was a sun flare.  I made an image of it without the sun flare thinking I would like it better, but I don't.
I only walked around for a short while~~it was 100 degrees, not the most enjoyable temps for making images with no real objective.

Downtown Building

I thought this was an interesting perspective on this building in downtown Abilene.
Years ago I was in Europe and a lot of the older buildings had many of their windows boarded up.
The tour guide told us it was because, once upon a time, there was a tax on the number of windows a building had, so the owners boarded the windows to lower their tax bills.
I don't think that's the reason theses lower windows are boarded, but it's an interesting idea.

Grain Silo in Small Town

On one of my field trips with a friend, we came across this grouping of silos.  I don't know why I find them so irresistible, but I do and I almost always make images of them if I can.

Black Globe Light Post

This beautiful black globe light post is located in Coleman, Texas.  There were several more located around the little grassy area in one part of town..
I've never seen black globes like these, but they're really awesome, especially against the
stunning blue sky.

Church and Blue Sky

This apparently abandoned church is sitting in a field at the edge of a well-used cemetery in
Tuxedo, TX.
The structure seems to be in not-bad shape.  There are pew benches in the sanctuary area inside facing toward the back with a view into the cemetery and a podium facing the pews.
Once upon a time it must have been a sweet local house of worship.
Too bad it hasn't been reclaimed.

Looking up at the Steeple

This beautiful steeple belongs to a Methodist church in a small Texas Town.  I've taken photos of this church before, but never from this perspective.  It was a beautiful day and I was pretty excited about this new angle.

Abandoned Hotel and Fire Escape

This structure is located in Colorado City, Texas.  The first time I saw it was about 5 years ago and it still looks exactly the same now as it did then.
Even though it's abandoned, it's pristine.  No trash on the sidewalks, no debris around the edges of the building, the lower level business spots are boarded up with wood and there are pretty paintings on the boards, it doesn't look like the building has deteriorated at all.
I don't know anything about the safety of the structure but it sure would be great if someone with money were able to refurbish this old motel.  Maybe it's not possible.

Abstract Artwork

I came across this abstract piece of artwork as I was walking around downtown the other day in the area where there are many reception venues.
I don't really like abstract art, but this is so colorful and it's right at the gate of the venue so everyone on the street can see it as can anyone entering for an event.
