Business Window

I made this image several years ago in Dublin, Texas.  It was an abandoned business and I just liked the way it looked with the round circle just inside the window.
I have no memory of what the business was.

Lion Wall Art

A small rectangular building that appears to be vacant now was home to a health business of some sort.  I've been wanting to take a photo of this wall art for several months, but there was a large car parked in front of it for a long time.  Today the vehicle was gone and all the signage was gone too.

This building was once a fancy motel in Stamford, Texas, now gone to rack n ruin.  It must have been quite the accommodation once upon a time.

Flower Graffiti

One of the businesses in downtown Abilene has their outside wall painted in these beautiful colors from the ground to the top of the building.  It's such an outstanding bright spot along the sidewalk.

Road Construction

The city council in Abilene decided it was more important to revamp the Main Street than to maintain the roadways throughout town.  Hopefully this will be done soon.

Three lawn Chairs

I was getting ready to take the group photo for our reunion this past weekend, so I set up these chairs for a few of the people to sit in.  They're kind of cool.
Not a world class photo, but the moms of the little kids don't want photos of their kids on social media, so I thought these chairs might be an option for a photo for today.

Gazania

I'm not a gardener.  I manage to keep indoor plants alive and flourishing, but I don't like doing yard work.  I have tried in the past to grow small areas of flowers, but in all my years of doing that, I've NEVER seen these flowers before.
They grow well in full sun for several months during the summer and are often grown as drought resistant ground cover. They're native to South Africa.
They're simply gorgeous.

Watching the Rodeo

This young guy was sitting two seats away from me at the rodeo, looking at the arena and waiting for an event to begin.  I don't usually get images like this, but I did that night and I love it.

It's Mother's Day Sunday, so HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to all you moms out there.
I hope your day was blessed.

Dainty Flowers

I was walking from my car in a parking lot to a convenience store and I saw these dainty flowers growing through a crack in the cement.  It always amazes me how tenacious nature can be, how growth can still happen in the weirdest and most difficult places.
I guess that can be a lesson for all of us.  We should continue to grow in the knowledge of our Lord and His Word, no matter how difficult things around us seem at the moment.

Golf Ball Graffiti

A friend of mine lives fairly close to one of the golf clubs in town.  One of the routes to get to her place is to drive by the club house of the golf course.  On my way home tonight, I saw this artwork on the side of the building and decided to make an image of it.

It was a really busy day for me.  I left the house at 9 am and didn't return until 8 pm.
Cleaned an airbnb for several hours this morning and then helped another friend relocate their
travel trailer, but first we had to dig it out of the mud when it got stuck.
I'm thinking I might be getting too old to be doing this kind of physical effort, but the truth is, even though it was hard work and I can barely keep my eyes open as I write this blog post I am so, so, so grateful to God for the strength and energy he has supplied me with.
I can do this work and then be tired.  Praise God.

Butterfly on Wall

In Anson, TX, there's a decorated alleyway that has murals on each wall and picnic tables and benches for sitting a spell.  The walls have some great artwork and this butterfly decorates one of the corners.

While waiting for a friend outside Cracker Barrel, I snapped this photo of the rocking chairs they have for sale.  They even have smaller chairs for children now.

Abandoned One Story Building

As I was wandering around downtown today, I found this abandoned building.  There were no signs to indicated what it had been.  Another conundrum.

Meter Guardrail

Throughout town there are meter units that have guardrails in front of them to keep them safe from car traffic.  I've never seen anything like this in other places I've lived.
