Ooops

I was out and about this morning running errands and decided to stop at my fave coffee shop for an iced coffee.
It appears that the window has a break in it and the owner put a band-aid on it.  How cute is this?
I couldn't resist getting a shot of this happy band-aid

Racketball Court

Every week I play racketball with a friend, usually on Monday.  This is the court we play on at the local YMCA.
We used to play on courts at a rec center until the town decided to tear it down in order to rebuild a better venue.
When we get done, I play pickle ball for a while in the gym. Needless to say, by the time I go home I'm totally exhausted, but in a good way.

Black Globe Light Post

This beautiful black globe light post is located in Coleman, Texas.  There were several more located around the little grassy area in one part of town..
I've never seen black globes like these, but they're really awesome, especially against the
stunning blue sky.

Watching the Rodeo

This young guy was sitting two seats away from me at the rodeo, looking at the arena and waiting for an event to begin.  I don't usually get images like this, but I did that night and I love it.

It's Mother's Day Sunday, so HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to all you moms out there.
I hope your day was blessed.

Chasing Aurora

There was an incredible display of the Aurora lights last night.  My camera was acting funny so I missed some really good images, but I'm happy with what I got.

Minimalist lighting

While I was in the park trying to decide what images to make, I turned around and saw the building across the street with this single strand of lights across the roof area.  There are no other lights or decorations on the building. I wonder how many people actually look up to see the lights?
As I'm getting older I'm becoming more minimalist, so I really appreciate the simplistic effort of this building decorated for the holiday season.

Lighted Snowflake

So...a couple of days ago I posted an image of this snowflake, but it was during daylight and naturally the lights weren't on and you could see the building in the background.   I mentioned that I hardly ever go downtown after dark, but today I was inspired to get outside since it was an unseasonable 75 degrees and sunny.
I waited until it was almost dusk and headed to town with the intention of getting this snowflake with the lights on. I'm glad I did.
There were a lot of families wandering around the park getting photos of their kiddos with the storybook statues and the Christmas decorations.  It was a good day to be out and about.

Light Pole Decorations

Many of the downtown light poles had this decor on them.  I took this photo near dusk so the light and the deer stood out clearly against the blue sky.

A lighted Gift

This display is in one of the local parks in Abilene, Texas.  I made the image just before dusk.
It was a beautiful weather day~~a high of 72.
I appreciate this winter weather so much even though it will probably get colder before the winter ends.  At least we're not experiencing the snow & cold that's in the northeast right now.

Frosty and His Family

I went to town today just before dusk hoping to find some Christmas photo ops and I saw this fun display of Frosty and his family in one of the parks.  Many of the trees were wrapped with colored lights.

Today I retrieved two quilts that were recently finished from the quilter so now I have to put the binding on them.  One is for my granddaughter who will be two this spring and the other is an oversized lap quilt for me.  I'll be happy when they're finished.

Lighted Poles on ACU campus

These lighted poles are seen on the campus of Abilene Christian University.  It seems there must be some kind of scavenger hunt with the lights since there is a sign to scan a bar code about the lights.
I didn't scan the code, I just wanted to grab a photo or two.

Coffee Shop at Night

The other night some friends and I attended a meeting and afterward we decided to go to the coffee shop to visit with each other.  I got there first and discovered that 1) all the inside tables were taken and 2) it was open mic night which meant we probably wouldn't be able to have any kind of a comfortable conversation.
But...for the first time in many months, the weather was beautiful and perfect for sitting outside.  It's been a very long time since I sat outside and it was glorious.
Sometimes it's the very smallest of pleasures that are the most meaningful.

Airport Store

I was in the airport for an incredibly long time.  My flight was delayed about three times and then finally, when we were in line to board, the flight was canceled because of bad weather.  So, because it was canceled due to bad weather, none of us were issued vouchers for an overnight stay at a motel.

Most of us spent between 4-5 hours standing in line to rebook our flights.
The line crept along.  No one got angry, no one became cantankerous.  We all just waited our turns.  The only thing that was a benefit to me in that very long wait was that the guy behind me started a conversation and we talked about 30 random topics through the entire unpleasant ordeal.

By the time I got to the booking window it was probably 1:30 am.  The soonest flight they could get me
on was at around 2 pm, so that was another 12 hour wait.

About an hour before boarding, it finally occurred to me to get my camera out of my bag and start taking photos. Duh!!!  At that point in time I couldn't go very far from my gate because I didn't want to miss my plane so I was pretty limited in what I could photograph.

I watched this store close the night before and then I watched it open back up in the morning.  I thought it was pretty interesting and even though I waited quite a while for that guy to move, he was engrossed with something on his phone, so I just decided to grab the shot and move along to another image.

My heart is grateful today:
that I was able to get out and get some images in a different place for a change

I had to get up a little earlier than usual this morning and when I looked out the patio door, I saw the lights on the deck next door.  The sky was just getting light but I wondered why the deck light was on in the next yard.  I'll probably never know, but I thought it looked interesting.

My heart is grateful that:
I was able to take great cupcakes to share with my fellow early-voting-poll-workers today

Envy Nightclub sign and black car.

I just thought this made a cute image.  The black sign "Envy" and the black car parked almost perfectly beneath it.

My heart is grateful for the photo job I had today

The Johnson Building

Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas decorated their campus last week, so I made a trip over there just as it was turning dusk.  By the time I got to this building, it was dark enough that I had to boost the iso, so there's some pixelating going on.

I love the simplicity of the one string of lights along the top of he building.

My heart is grateful that:
I went to see "The Shift" movie in the theater tonight, and that there are more and more movies lately giving the untarnished Word of God.

The house on the Lake

Tonight one of the families from church hosted their annual Graham-Cracker-House party.  There was a huge crowd...everyone brought candy for decorations, graham crackers to build their houses, and food to share.
We were given 2 hours to build and decorate our houses and then there was a panel of "judges" who did the judging.  There were two categories:  0-10 years and 11-100 years.

It was amazing what great structures resulted.

I'm grateful for:
a fun evening of visiting with friends

Abilene, Texas Christmas Tree

This Christmas Tree is located in front of City Hall.  It was just about dusk and the lights were already turned on which made for a nice photo.

My heart is happy that:
Even though we can celebrate Jesus everyday, we'll soon be officially celebrating His birthday
