Ooops

I was out and about this morning running errands and decided to stop at my fave coffee shop for an iced coffee.
It appears that the window has a break in it and the owner put a band-aid on it.  How cute is this?
I couldn't resist getting a shot of this happy band-aid

Dog Graffiti on Business Wall

I was early for my hair appointment today so I spent some time walking around town looking for photo ops when I saw this beautiful dog painted on the outside of an abandoned building.

Graffiti Face on Wall

There's an area of downtown where there are a few businesses, some abandoned buildings and very little foot traffic.  This artwork is on the side of one of the empty buildings.  I've made images of it before, but never as a close-up.
"Close-up" is one of the prompts on my list, so this is what I got.
Any closer and it might have turned into an abstract, which I didn't want.

January 18th is "National Winnie the Pooh Day"

Decor

I was in Hobby Lobby the other day.  I found what I wanted and was on my way to the cash register when I wandered down an aisle where home decor was for sale.  I know this isn't very sophisticated, but there are times when I need a little whimsy in my life.  I basically fell in love with this picture AND it was on sale for a great price.

So now it lives on the wall above my couch and is one of the first things I see when I walk through my front door.

Horton Hears a Who

Abilene is the "Storybook Capital of America" and has many  storybook character statues scattered around its two parks.

I'm happy that:
I was able to move some things into my new living space today

Whorton Hears a Who

Abilene, TX is known as the Storybook Capital of the US.  It has two areas where there are storybook sculptures on display.  Whorton Hears a Who is one of the characters.

My heart is happy because:
there are happy stories to tell little people

Tiger Eyes

This is a portion of a wall mural I saw while walking around downtown today.  I don't know if it has anything to do with the business, but I think it's beautiful

Curious Giraffe

I spent some time at the zoo this afternoon.  There are seven giraffes at this zoo which include 2 or 3 juveniles.   The enclosure makes it pretty difficult to photograph them without including some of the fence, but this particular creature was very curious and spent a lot of time right in front of me.  I would move to the right and she would move to her left.  After a while I moved left and, sure enough, she moved too.

I don't know what she found so fascinating about me, but I was very happy for all the images I was able to make.  I only had to remove one thin wire from this image and voila, a great giraffe portrait.

Today I'm grateful for:
my renewed determination to lose a few more pounds

Eyes of the Lorax

Abilene has the nickname of "Storybook Capital".  There are a couple of parks in town where there are statues of storybook characters.  The parks are very sweet and very child-orientated.

These are the eyes of The Lorax.
The assignment of my photo club this month is eyes.  Ick.  I have no imagination so I figured I wouldn't submit anything for the assigned topic, then I happened upon the statue today during my walk around town.

I love Dr. Suess and read a lot of his books to my children, but somehow I never read this one.
Apparently the book is about human greed being the cause of the destruction of the natural environment.
The "lesson" is basically, "nothing will get better if no one cares".

My heart is grateful today for:
the friend I play racketball with every week
