Flower Graffiti

One of the businesses in downtown Abilene has their outside wall painted in these beautiful colors from the ground to the top of the building.  It's such an outstanding bright spot along the sidewalk.

A Pretty Painting on a Brick Wall

I think I was in Colorado City when I saw this flower painting on the outside of one of the businesses.
It filled the entire wall and had some words, but I just wanted to show the flowers.

Gnome on Wall

It was a stunningly beautiful day today.  The temp hovered around 82 and the humidity was about 32.  The sun was shining and there was a little breeze.

After I went to the grandkid's lesson this afternoon, I drove around looking for some photo ops.  I finally parked the car and got out to walk around with my camera, and I found this little single layer of brick wall in between two larger brick walls.  I almost missed the gnome painting.
How cute is this?

Watercolor

I saw this in my chiropractor's office today.  I've seen it other times but today the lightbulb went off that I should take a photo of it.  I only had my phone so the quality isn't great, but I still thing it's a great image to have in the office.

My heart is grateful for:
my chiropractor who offers non-medicinal healing

Tiger Eyes

This is a portion of a wall mural I saw while walking around downtown today.  I don't know if it has anything to do with the business, but I think it's beautiful

Abandoned Building

This building is in downtown Abilene, TX.  I've taken several shots of it in the past, but never from this perspective.  In its former useful life it appears it was a warehouse of some kind.

My heart is grateful for:
being able to spend some time alone with my grandson today

Street Art

I've seen this mural many times recently, but there were always cars parked right in front of it so it was too difficult to get a good photo.  Yesterday, however, I used my cell phone and I was able to get right on the sidewalk, so the cars didn't interfere at all.

I love the colors and the design.  Such a "happy" mural.

My heart is happy for:
being able to spend some time with the grandkids today

Painted Oranges

Dunedin, FL is know for it's orange crop, in addition to other crops.  Artist Steve Spathelf decided it would bolster the self-respect of the town if there were oranges painted throughout the small sea-side community.  His work has become so popular there's now a waiting list for his artwork on businesses and personal homes.

It's fun walking around the town seeing how many oranges you can see.  What a happy idea.

Disguising Electrical Boxes

Visiting a friend in a small coastal town in FL.  Walking around downtown I saw this wall art and how they used it to disguise these ugly electrical boxes.  If you were quickly walking by, you might not even notice the boxes, just the artwork.  What a great idea.

My heart is grateful for:
the safe trip to my friend's home

Sign on Wall

There's a new bookstore downtown.  This is a sign painted on the outside of the business.
I think it's a perfect sentiment.

My heart is grateful:
that we've finally have a new elder at church and the burdens of ministry will be shared a little more evenly

New Business Sign

I noticed that this business sign had been redesigned and repainted since the last time I was in the town. Definitely eye-catching.

Abstract Art

The same coffee shop that offers the lending library displays local art on the walls.  The current artwork is all abstracts.  I think I mentioned that I'm not a fan of abstract, but I AM a fan of supporting local artists, so I applaud this shop for their decor.

There are no artist's names visible and no prices so I'm not sure if the work is for sale.  If it is, one would probably need to talk to the staff about contacting the artist.

Regardless, the artwork just reinforces the fact that besides being soooo cozy, the coffee shop is community minded which makes it a place I really enjoy frequenting.  So much so that sometimes I think I need a PT job to support my coffee habit at this place.

Today my heart is grateful for:
the late afternoon sunlight streaming through my west-facing windows

Abstract Painting

When I went to my daughter's house yesterday, her not-quite-5-year-old came running to me to show me some paintings he had done earlier in the day.  They were so fun to look at and he was so proud.

He's definitely coming out of his "shy" self.  I despaired for a while that it would happen, but he seems happier and more open these days and it's joy to behold.

This is the "painting" I like best of the whole bunch.  I make my own photo notecards for birthdays and other events and I'm definitely going to use this image on some of the cards.  Now I have to come up with just the right sentiment to go with it.

His birthday is in a couple of months and this will definitely be the photo for his card.

My heart is grateful for:
budding creativity no matter what the age of the artist
