Meter Guardrail

Throughout town there are meter units that have guardrails in front of them to keep them safe from car traffic.  I've never seen anything like this in other places I've lived.

Another alleyway scene.  Sweet graffiti on a red brick wall with one window showing.

Running Water

Texas experienced an unprecedented cold spell a few weeks ago.  The temp went crazy low on Sunday, Feb 14.  My water stopped running that day.

Backstory: The tenant beneath me left his apartment for an extended visit to CA in mid-December.  When he left, he turned the thermostat off completely.  When the temps went below freezing, the pipes froze.

When the pipes froze, my water stopped.

When the temps went above freezing, the pipes burst.

So many people in Texas were dealing with similar situations. Repairs took a while.  Repair materials were in short supply because of the increased demand.

Anyway, 19 days later my water was finally restored.  I have so many bragging rights from this experience, but I'm glad it's over.

Water Pipes

Today as I was driving to a friend's house, I saw these pipes in the field.  There were a lot of them, so I knew there is some construction in the future, but I wasn't sure what they are actually for.  When I arrived at my friend's house, I asked her if she knew and she said they are water pipes.  So there ya go!

I love the color of these pipes~~it contrasts so nicely with the dead grass and winter landscape.  I only had my phone with me...I've carried my big cameral with me so many times when I never took it out of the bag that I decided to leave it home today.  So naturally a scene presented itself.

There's a saying that the "best" camera is the one in your hand at any given time, so today my best camera was my phone.  Not usually my camera of choice, but today it worked.
