Downtown Silos 2

The same silos as the previous post, but a different angle.  The image was made on a Sunday afternoon, so there's no activity happening.  The structure is located in downtown Abilene, Texas.
I pass this location often and finally decided to stop and get some images.  The weather was beautiful, I needed to be outside for a while so I was happy to find this location.

My heart is happy:
for the beautiful weather and the spare time to be outside with no deadline to be elsewhere

Downtown Silos

Except for the cloudy sky today, the weather was beautiful and I had to get out of the house for a while, so I drove around downtown.  I love this silo structure and as I was going past it I decided to stop and grab some more photos of it.
It looks really good against a blue, blue sky, but I really like the gray steely look of the silos against the cloudy grey sky too.

My heart is grateful:
that I'll be seeing my grandson in a few days.

Leaves and Grate

When I got out of my car to look for photo ops, I looked down and saw these leaves at the edge of the sewer grate.  Even though they're all brown-toned, I like the composition and the contrast between the leaves and the iron of the grate.

My heart is grateful that:
some of the women from church were able to get together last night to socialize and watch a movie together~~something that hasn't happened in a very long time

Overhead Door and Staircase

This building is huge.  It's about 1.5 blocks long and 1 block deep.  There used to be two businesses in it that I knew, plus some others.  Those two businesses have relocated and some others have taken over the spaces.  This is what's seen in the back alley.  Facing the street is a walkway along which are other overhead loading doors.  The building is three stories tall.
I don't know who owns the building or who pays the taxes.

My heart is grateful for:
old buildings that are maintained instead of being demolished

Wilford Moore Stadium

This is a side view of the football stadium bleachers of McMurry University in Abilene, Texas.  It's home to the War Hawks football team and other teams.  The capacity of the bleachers is 3,200 and the field was opened in 1937.

I'm grateful that:
I got a lot of work done around the house today and that the weather was so mild again

Outside Staircase/Emergency Exit

I saw this when I was walking around downtown.  No entrance this way, just an exit.

I'm grateful for:
peace in my life right now

Looking Up at the Fire Escape

I found another fire escape in downtown Abilene today.  This building is two-stories tall so it was pretty easy to photograph the entire fire escape.  I just happen to like this image of just the small section.

My heart is grateful today for:
The smile on my grandson's face when I showed up at his lesson today

Apartment Fire Escape

I took a road trip today not only to find a photo op but to enjoy the wonderful weather again.
I've been to this town many other times and photographed this fire escape but today I decided to put my wide-angle lens on the camera and shoot only with it.

I used to have a real fish-eye lens when I was using film, but when I switched to digital I decided that a compatible fish-eye was too expensive and I wouldn't use it enough.  So I opted for a very wide-angle lens. It's still a lot of fun.

You can shoot differently with a wide-angle lens than with a long lens and it's usually a very fun experience, I just don't do it enough.

My heart is grateful for:
how my living room is filled with sunlight at the end of the day
