Business Window

I made this image several years ago in Dublin, Texas.  It was an abandoned business and I just liked the way it looked with the round circle just inside the window.
I have no memory of what the business was.

Reflection in Window Glass

One of the older buildings in downtown Abilene has a series of round windows instead of rectangular windows.  As I was looking for some photo ops today I noticed this reflection so I grabbed a shot of it.  The mural itself is really nice.  Too bad there was a vehicle there.

Racketball Court

Every week I play racketball with a friend, usually on Monday.  This is the court we play on at the local YMCA.
We used to play on courts at a rec center until the town decided to tear it down in order to rebuild a better venue.
When we get done, I play pickle ball for a while in the gym. Needless to say, by the time I go home I'm totally exhausted, but in a good way.

Oil Lantern

A friend of mine on the "prepare spectrum" gave me this oil lantern for Christmas.
I've always loved these lanterns and I just love that he thought of this for me.  I got the oil and matches to go with it.  I might just use it some night for a night light while watching TV.  Otherwise, it sits on my mantle offering security in case the electric goes off for some reason.

I watched the inauguration of President Trump and Vice-President Vance this morning with my Republican Women group.  In my entire life I've never watched an inauguration.  This one was great~~a new and exciting chapter in American History.
Praise God!!!

Abstract Window Panes

A friend and I went to Rule, Texas today.  It was chilly but not too cold to be out making images.
Rule is a small town and the main street businesses are mostly abandoned.
I didn't notice this "bullet" hole in the glass until I was right in front of the window trying to figure out how to get an interesting composition.
Is it a bullet hole or a BB hole?
I played PickleBall again this morning and was going to head home but then my friend suggested this field trip.  It took most of the afternoon thankfully.
It's supposed to snow tomorrow.  Hmmm.

Patterns

One of the photo prompts I found was "patterns".  I've walked past this building so many times in downtown Abilene, Texas, but never thought of making this image.
The other day it occurred to me that this would make a great image for patterns.
So there ya go!!!

Aqua Door

While walking around today, I saw this pretty aqua door with the wreath.  It was late in the day so there was a lot of contrast between the shadows and the sunlight, but I love the archway of the front porch, the color of the door and the pretty welcoming wreath.

Ivy on a wall

I was walking around downtown again to find some photo ops.  It's a beautiful day, not even a sweater needed.  I've been past this building many times, but today I noticed the ivy growing up the side of the building along the window.   The blue sky and the clouds are reflected in the window.  Just a really pretty composition I think.

My heart is grateful for:
seeing something pretty in a scene I've passed many times before

Bottle on the Steps

I noticed these steps first and then I saw the bottle.  I didn't handle it so I don't know what was in the bottle.

I'm grateful for:
My new-to-me washer/dryer being installed today

Staircase and shadows

During my walk downtown, I passed through an alley I don't usually go through and I saw this.  It would have been good enough even without the window under the staircase, but that just added icing to the cake in my opinion.

I love all the angles created by the staircase, shadows, the window and the bright and dark areas.

My heart is grateful for:
the cooler weather we had today

Painted Mason Jar

Several years ago I was at a craft fair when I saw this beautifully hand-painted small Mason Jar.  I had no idea what I would do with it, but I bought two because they're so pretty.

I have one displayed on the mantle and I occasionally stuff one or two dollar bills in it, so I guess it's become just a pretty piggy-bank.

Seeing Through A Glass Darkly

In my friend's house, there is a panel of these wavy thick panes of glass alongside their front door. I thought of it the minute I heard what the special assignment was for Thursday. So these are a few of the images I made with that great glass.

That was all I was going to post. But my friend Jackie is taking hula lessons and she asked me to come to her class and video one of the junior instructors as she was leading the class during one of the dances. The tallest girl in the back with the blond hair is the one I videoed. She was really amazing.

As I was getting ready to leave, I saw the class get together for this group shot. I grabbed my camera and got it going as quickly as I could. I didn't want to use flash, so it's at 1600 asa, and still isn't very sharp, but it got the shot. How cute are they?

I tried for a second shot, but they were too quick for me.

Here the girls are sitting listening to the closing instructions.
