Grove of Trees

At the Buffalo Gap park there are groves of trees that still have leaves on them.  

They provide nice shade for any of the events that take place there.

Storage Shed

In the park in Buffalo Gap there's a storage shed.  I don't know what's in there, but maybe it could be lawn mowers and grounds-keeping items.  It has a lock and chain on it to keep the items safe.

Throughout the park there are occasional picnic benches.  This one was under some trees.

Halloween

Today is Halloween, so I wonder if these busted pumpkins were part of a "party" that the teens might have had.  The cloudy area in the background is from someone burning brush.

Three Privvys

The public park in Buffalo Gap has these three privies. I don't know if they remove them during the winter or not, but I thought they looked cool just sitting there.

Wild Deer

At a park in Buffalo Gap I saw these deer feeding on the grasses and the bowls of food.  I stopped near them and watched for a while.  

There were about 5 wandering around eating and they didn't seem too skittish until I started making some noise~~but I got some images first.

Table Setting

A beautiful table setting at a dinner for a Christian Speaker the other night.

There were about 25 tables at the event and each one was decorated by a different woman in a different theme.

It was a great night of getting to know everyone and then listening to the speaker.

Texas Flag

On the way to my daughter's house, there's a business on the side of the road that always has either a large American Flag or Texas Flag flying on a huge pole. 

I've wanted to get a photo of the Texas flag for a long time and I was finally on the right road to get near enough to it to photograph it without wires in the way.

Fancy Dinner

I don't normally post images of people, but the other night my church hosted a seminar where there were 

prizes, dinner an a speaker.  Each table was decorated with a theme by one of the ladies.  There were about 150 ladies there and it was a really good time.  I was chosen to take photos to record the event.

Walking through the streets of downtown Albany, TX, I saw this beautiful church spire.  The sky was a gorgeous blue, so I decided to grab a shot of the cross and the sky.

Three Chimneys Standing

These three chimneys are among the few left standing.

There's nothing left except the chimneys and one building frame that was used 

as a commissary.

Officer Quarters Chimney

This is one of the few remaining chimneys at Ft. Phantom.  The sign indicates that it was an officer's lodging, but all that's left now is the chimney and grass.

Wooden Fence

Around the complex I live in there's a fence.  Many of the slats have been destroyed by the weather, so the property manager had new slats put in.  I don't know if she's going to have them painted, but at least the fence looks better than it did.

Pretty House

While I was waiting for my grandkid's testing for their martial arts classes, I walked around the neighborhood for a few minutes.  The houses in that area are really pretty, so I grabbed a few images of several different homes.  This is quite a large structure, but I really like the front door with the window on the side.

Barrel Racing

Because the rodeo takes place inside the area, the lighting is pretty difficult.  I had my setting way up high, but managed to get a good shot of this rider going around the barrel.

Chili's Restaurant

It's been a long time since I've eaten in a Chili's.  I can't remember the last time I was in one.

They serve HUGE portions, so the meal I got would probably feed me for three meals.  

It was really good and it was fun getting to know some of the folks a little.

This Chili's is on the north side of town so after eating it was good to drive around and look for some photo opportunities.  

It's just plain HOT, HOT, HOT here and we're all waiting for the temps to go down, and we NEED  some rain.

Painted Building

The other end of the building was painted with another nautical theme and I loved the colors so I grabbed a shot of it.  I guess the doors lead to a storage unit for the restaurant that used to be there.

The Old Cabinet

We have this thing going on at our church.  Anyone who wants to can get on a list to have breakfast/lunch/dinner with 7-8 other people. (every 4 months it changes people so you can meet others) It's a great way to get to know others in the church and to make new friends, or just get out and have a diversion in your life.

Today was the day for our group to meet so we decided to go to Chili's on the north side of town for lunch.  

After we ate I drove around a little to see if there were any photos I could find since I don't usually go to that side of town very much.  There was an old building, painted on the outside with a nautical theme, that I thought was interesting and then I saw this empty cabinet.

Another abandoned building.  Novice is a very small town with tiny population, so maybe there's a community center someplace else that people can go to.

This one is definitely unused.

The Old High School

What a beautiful building.  It was late on a Sat afternoon when I photographed this structure and there were no people walking around.  There are curtains in the windows though, so maybe during the week it's being used for something.

Abandoned Gas station in Coleman

This abandoned structure is on a corner down a side street in Coleman, TX.  

Doors are locked and one door is covered over with shutters so you can't even see what's inside.

Another Abandoned Building

Was this a gas station, a community center, a home?  No way to tell.  There seems to be a dog house in the yard to the right of the structure, but that still doesn't indicate what the building was. It also looks like there was a large window next to the door that was covered over at one time.  

It's obviously been abandoned for a long time.

Decorative Vase

While walking around some of the side streets in Abilene this morning, I came across a house that had two vases, one on either side of the front door.  

I liked the way they looked but decided to photograph only one vase instead of both of them with the front door in the middle.

I was out looking for an "old" church to photograph for the photo club assignment and I came across this beautiful white steeple in a small town.  There are many like this but this one was right on my path so I took some photos of it.  It doesn't really fit the assignment, but I needed a photo for the blog, so here ya go.

Painted Building

One of the alleyways in downtown Abilene is painted in these beautiful colors and designs.  It's a pleasure to see them instead of just the plain bricks of the building.
