Tiled Walkway

This tiled walkway leads from the sidewalk to the front doors of an abandoned church in downtown Abilene, Texas.  Some of the tile has been displaced, but otherwise it in good condition. It must have been really beautiful in its prime.

Abandoned Home in Abilene

These abandoned structures make my heart so sad. I always wish I could get into these places, but they're always locked tight.

Pitcher

Abilene offers summer league baseball teams for the high school players.  After all the years of being here, I finally got a chance to go to one of the games with a friend of mine whose grandson was playing today.

Which Way to Go?

On the way home the other day, we stopped at a place to eat and there was this direction sign out back.   I couldn't resist grabbing a shot of it and editing it a little differently than usual.

Three lawn Chairs

I was getting ready to take the group photo for our reunion this past weekend, so I set up these chairs for a few of the people to sit in.  They're kind of cool.
Not a world class photo, but the moms of the little kids don't want photos of their kids on social media, so I thought these chairs might be an option for a photo for today.

Abandoned Cabin and Truck

It seems like I'm posting a lot of abandoned places lately, but to tell the truth, they're more interesting than any of the other architecture around here.
This tiny cabin, probably not a home at one time...maybe a storage place or a smoke house...is located in Colorado City, TX.
I did some extra editing on it just to have something different, and I really like the final effect.

Once Upon a Convenience Store

This sign was on a corner in front of an abandoned gas station and convenience store.
It must have been a fairly thriving business at one time.
Another sad and forgotten place in rural Texas.

Abandoned Country House

As we were driving down the road I noticed this house in a field, so we detoured a little and were able to get pretty close to it.  It was totally deserted, but there was a DISH on one side of the house and some air conditioners in the windows.  I looked in one of the windows and saw a bed mattress, shelves on the wall with knick-knacks, some clothing.  The people who lived here must have just decided one day to walk away.  There were also some sheds nearby with all manner of "things" still there.

It's a curiosity why these places are abandoned like they are.

Tree Trunk and Hydrant

One of my photo prompts was Lone Tree.  While I was looking around for such an object, I saw this tree with the fire hydrant in the background.
I just thought the composition was interesting and there are times when I get desperate for an image of some kind.  I like the little touch of orange color in the background.

Antique Rake

On  a ride down a country road, there was an area where there were many pieces of antique equipment on display.  The gate was open so we walked around to look at the equipment.
