Yarn Design

I went to my photo meeting tonight at the Art Center in town.  The back hall has been spiffed up a little and this display of yarn on string is pretty new since I was there last.
There are instructions as to how to attach the thread~~probably unnecessary, but people seem to be very challenged these days~~but look how many yarns there are and how pretty the colors are.
I don't know if it's supposed to mean something, but it looks like a piece of artwork.  Too bad it's not in the main part of the art venue so all visitors can see it.

Basket of Yarn

Right now I'm working on a baby blanket and storing the extra yarn in this basket which lives on the window sill in my room  It's just the two shades of grey and white but in order to take the photo I needed some other skeins to fill in the basket.

I never thought of using extra yarn in a basket as a decor statement until I saw a friend of mine do it in her home.  I love the idea, but not sure I want to do it myself.

A Knitted Baby Blanket

I love to knit and crochet.  This baby blanket is knitted.  Although it looks grey in the pic, it's really a beautiful deep slate blue.

I always need to be doing something creative while watching TV, so this kind of project is perfect especially once I get the feel for the pattern.
Several years ago I kept making one baby blanket after another until I had, hmmm maybe 10-12 in reserve.  When I moved I had to give some of them to charities because I didn't want to take all of them with me.  I kept about 6 of my favorites and now I only have three left. Right now I don't know anyone having a baby, so this one and the other two will have to stay in storage for a while longer.

Hobby

One day last week, when I was at Laniakea Beach doing my turtle shift, one of the other volunteers was working on a crochet project. There were no turtles on the beach, and very few visitors. We began talking about what she was working on and she said she would make a copy of the pattern for me and leave it in the locker so I could get it the next time I was at the beach.

It didn't take me long to buy some yarn and get started. Now I have to figure out who I'm going to give this to. I may just have to put it away and save it, but I'm having fun working on it now.

This is my post for Saturday, Jan 31.
