Flower Decor

I went to the Abilene Mall and outside one of the doors was this display of plants and flowers.
I just thought it looked so nice, so I grabbed an shot of it with my cellphone.

Locked Door

These are doors to an abandoned church in the outskirts of downtown Abilene, Texas.  There's no sign indicating what kind of a church it was, but the windows are boarded and there is this lock and chain on the entrance doors.

Blind Pattern

I love the color of this blind and the look of the even pattern.  Image was taken from the outside of the building looking in through the glass.

Decor

I stayed in an airbnb on my way home from the family reunion this past weekend, and this was in the living room.  The owner is new to the airbnb thing, but the space was really comfortable and actually had just the right amount of decor.  I thought this urn with the sticks was so pretty.

This artwork is seen on the outside wall of what seems to be an abandoned building in Tuscola, Texas.

Butterfly on Wall

In Anson, TX, there's a decorated alleyway that has murals on each wall and picnic tables and benches for sitting a spell.  The walls have some great artwork and this butterfly decorates one of the corners.

Rocking Chairs

While waiting for a friend outside Cracker Barrel, I snapped this photo of the rocking chairs they have for sale.  They even have smaller chairs for children now.

Dog Graffiti on Business Wall

I was early for my hair appointment today so I spent some time walking around town looking for photo ops when I saw this beautiful dog painted on the outside of an abandoned building.

Hiking Boot in Snow

While in Fairbanks, AK, I went to Pioneer Village one day.  I was adjusting my camera to see if it was focusing ok and I took this shot of my hiking boot.  For some crazy reason, I really like this shot. It might not say what venue I'm at, but it sure says I'm in winter weather.

Headstone

On the way home from our photo journey today we stopped at a cemetery and spent some time there looking for military headstones.
It was quite a large cemetery. We only searched one corner of it for stones that were of military members.  Sadly we also saw some headstones of babies, some who died at birth, some who were months old, some who were around two.   The heartbreak that the parents endured must have been awful.
When I saw this stone I cried...and I honestly couldn't speak for a few minutes when I saw the others.

Large Pond

Texas trivia:
There is only ONE natural lake in Texas but this is not it.
Although there are over 7,000 lakes in the state, only Caddo Lake in east Texas is natural.

In comparison, NY state has over 7,000 natural fresh water lakes.
Alaska has 3,197 named lakes and about 3 million un-named lakes.

A friend and I took a photo field trip today.  We were driving down a service road along one of the main highways looking for a photo op.  We stopped to photograph something else, but when I turned around I saw this partially frozen pond.  The temp was about 36 today, but in the previous days it had been in the teens and I guess it wasn't warm enough today to melt all the surface ice.

Downtown Abstract

One of the buildings in downtown Abilene has this decor on one of its outside walls.  I'm not a fan of abstract, but for some reason I love this.  It looks good and it's a great place to do high school senior photos.
There's actually a sign for handicapped parking which I removed for the sake of the image.

Went to church this morning, then back home.  I worked on a quilt for a little while.
It was about 19 degrees this morning and is only about 32 now.
It will be in the mid 50s by the middle of the week thankfully.

Close-Up "W"

This white W with a black outline is on one of the metal post supports for an alleyway porch roof of a downtown business in Abilene, Texas.

It's getting colder here in West Texas.  It's 11 pm right now and the temp is 28, yikes.
Tomorrow will start out at 21 and the high temp will be 41.
Since I hate summer here I guess I need to be glad of the cooler temps right now.
Hmmm, I'll have to think about that.

Sign on a wall of a Downtown Bookstore

I think I posted an image like this quite a while ago, but I just love the sentiment.  This quote is on one of the outside walls of a downtown bookstore in Abilene, Texas.
Mary Oliver was a poet who lived from 1935-2019.
She was a fan of "wonderment".
What a great quote~~we should all pay attention, be astonished and then tell about it.

The Mill Restaurant

One of the buildings on the edge of downtown is an old mill structure that's been transformed into a popular destination restaurant.  It's a real interesting structure and it's always tempting to try to get a different image of it.
I've never eaten there but I know people who have and they say the food is really good.

While walking down a country road, I saw these pink and white tulips at the base of the telephone pole.  What a great idea.

 Beautiful Girl

This beautiful girl is about 12. She's one of the sweetest dogs I have ever known. There's nothing more that can be said.
She belongs to my daughter.  My daughter says that when this pet passes on she's done with animals.  I don't blame her.  I had pets all the time I was raising my kiddos, and then I was done too.

My heart is grateful for:
wonderful pets
