Looking up at the Steeple

This beautiful steeple belongs to a Methodist church in a small Texas Town.  I've taken photos of this church before, but never from this perspective.  It was a beautiful day and I was pretty excited about this new angle.

Meter Guardrail

Throughout town there are meter units that have guardrails in front of them to keep them safe from car traffic.  I've never seen anything like this in other places I've lived.

Downtown Silos

On the edge of downtown Abilene there are several silos along the railroad tracks.  I'm not sure what they're for, but they're huge and they're active.

Weeds in Cement

I was walking along a sidewalk the other day.  It was cracked in one spot and this weed was growing through the crack.  Nature is amazing.

Walking Bridge

This is the walking bridge that crosses over the Chena River in downtown Fairbanks, AK.
Once on the bridge the view from either side is spectacular.
Everything is green and the river weaves itself through the town.

My heart is grateful for:
beautiful scenery

Steps

Not sure where this was taken...I think it was in Knoxville, TN.  I just love the curve of the steps and the brick wall.

My heart is grateful:
that I've located a nice place to live that's a little less pricey than where I am right now

Abstract Shadow on Steps

I don't normally like abstracts.  My brain has a hard time making sense of them, although I hear from others that that's exactly why they do like abstracts.  To each their own I guess.

Anyway, while walking around downtown, I saw these cement steps with the railing shadow cascading down the steps.  I thought it looked very cool, so there you have it.

My heart is grateful today for:
Amazon Prime free (haha) delivery

Cement steps and red brick building

This building was an abandoned warehouse.  A couple of years ago it was purchased by a local church and revitalized into an extremely popular coffee house.  I seem to remember hearing that some of the proceeds go to missionary ventures.  Maybe that's why their prices are a little higher than other coffee houses in the area.

I'm grateful today:
for the great phone conversation I had with my daughter who lives many states away

Address 201

This building is an event center.  I love the green bricks and the large #201.  The #1 is just a little skewed which makes it even better~~a slight imperfection.

I'm grateful today for:
my bookgroup and all the good books we've read over the years

Cement Plant

As I was driving around the outskirts of town today, I came across this cement plant.  I love the architectural aspect of this structure and the beautiful blue sky behind it.

My grateful heart is happy today because:
there's plenty of food in my fridge

Cement Wall

This wall is outside the now defunct train station in town.  I just heard the story today about how the wall was built because the train tracks used to flood when it rained hard and trains would have to wait until the flood waters receded.  So the tracks were raised up and this wall is part of the support of the raised tracks.

I love the vine branches. There's just something so appealing about bare branches in the fall and winter.  Obviously in the summer the wall is covered in vines which is also beautiful.
