Sense and Scents

We had another great Fall day today. It started out pretty chilly, but sunny, and then it warmed up to a very pleasant temp. We got out of church very late today due to another missionary presentation, and the drive home was sweet.

I didn't manage to get outside for any photos though. So this evening, after dark, I decided to shoot these candles. This has been on my mind for quite a while, so I'm glad I finally got around to it. These candles are in front of the fireplace screen in my living room. As you can see, I took two different shots, both with and without flash. I thought I would like the ambient light ones better, but I actually like the last shot a lot too. Again, as with most images, it's very subjective, and as the saying goes (with a slight twist) "one man's good image, is another man's junk".

I love candles. They're soothing to look at, the scented ones smell great, they give off a great glow that makes any room seem cozier, and they definitely come in handy when the electricity goes off, as it does pretty regularly where I live. So it only makes sense to burn them. I received about a gazillion jarred candles for my birthday, so I'm set for a long time. yeah!

These are lovely, Linda. I like the no-flash ones best, though. And I love your fireplace screen!

You must have been reading my mind, Linda. Last night I was thinking of future subjects, and thought to myself that some night I would shoot lit candles. I really love your ambient light images (and your fireplace screen is lovely, too)!!! Both of those images would make beautiful greeting cards. Great job, Linda!
